Eco Tours

The Abrolhos Islands is a nature lover's paradise. On dry land, sea lions bask on the shores while a plethora of bird life soar above. In the water, snorkel through the coral gardens, hand feed 30kg Samson fish and watch out for dolphins swimming in your bow waves.

Scuba Diving / Snorkeling

The Abrolhos Islands provides pure diving pleasure. With a range of diving options to choose from in each Island group, the Abrolhos can cater for everyone from the expert diver to the snorkeller. Tropical parrot and butterfly fish and coral trout swim beside western rock lobsters, buff bream and bald chin gropers. Coral bombies and colourful staghorn coral provide an underwater maze for your dive.

Fishing

If fishing is your passion, the Abrolhos supports many a prized catch waiting to become your next fishing story! Coral Trout, Dhufish and Blue Bone Groper, schools of Pink and Norwest Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Yellowtail Kingfish and Tuna provide just as much pleasure to catch as they do to eat! Check with the Fisheries Department for areas of the Abrolhos open to fishing.

Surfing

Abrolhos Picking up both swell and wind, the Abrolhos offers awesome surf and windsurfing conditions. With swell lines wrapping left and right around the islands, quality surf is possible in a variety of weather conditions. Geraldton's famous sea breezes and the protected waters of the Abrolhos also provide outstanding conditions for speed sailing.

Harbour Cruises

For Harbour Cruises enjoy seeing the local marine wildlife whilst looking back on Geraldton from the sea. We also take you through the fishermanŐs harbour where you can see Tuna, Cray fishing Fleets and factories. You can also take a closer look of the dredges in operation and large ships leaving our port.

Bird Watching

More than ninety species of seabirds have been identified on the Abrolhos Islands, among them Crested Terns, Lesser Noddies and White Breasted Sea Eagles in a very special and protected sanctuary free of introduced predators.

Historic Tours

Abrolhos is a Portuguese word for "reefs" or "rocky shoals" (a contraction of abre [open] + olhos [eyes] - "open your eyes!"). Dutch captain Frederick de Houtman arrived there in 1619 in the VOC ship Dordrecht, prepending his name.

Operating Hours

For the one-day fishing trips, we leave port promptly at 7:00 AM and return at approximately 3 PM.
